What is Anxiety Attacks – Are They Real?
What is anxiety attacks? They are an alarming and frightening condition that I experienced myself. I was only seventeen years old and had been an anxious and irritable child before that. After that I became socially isolated and my poor family couldn’t provide the proper lifestyle that I needed. So I decided to go for a doctor’s appointment and get my diagnosis and plan for a future.
During the visit, the doctor asked me what I knew about anxiety and said that the symptoms were a full stop from where I was. I had never heard of such a thing. I replied that I had tried to find out but no one could answer me. The doctor did say that anxiety attacks were not really in my job description. But since I was going to college I couldn’t get a job. So I was basically unemployed until I graduated and then got a job in the bank. But I also found this to be something I would have to deal with and not just something I would get over in a few days.
What is an anxiety attack? Well, it’s a brain system where the hormone dopamine is made to help with our emotional response to stress. Sometimes when we are stressed we think that we are going to have an attack and then we do. That makes us feel anxious because we feared that we were going to have an attack. It’s a brain reaction to stress. The dopamine doesn’t cause us to get violent but if you are exposed to chronic stress that may trigger an attack. So it is like when you’re nervous to see your doctor.
Signs and symptoms of Stress disorders
Along with this symptom of anxiety and irrational and excessive anxiety, other symptoms of an anxiety disorder include:
- Feelings of Jealousy or dread
- Watching for signs of Risk
- Anticipating the worst
- Trouble Assessing
- Feeling Stressed and jumpy
- Feeling as your Head’s gone blank
But stress is more than only a feeling. As a portion of the fight-or-flight Reply of this body, anxiety entails a wide Assortment of symptoms
- Pounding heart
- Shaking or trembling
- Frequent Illness or nausea
- Shortness of breath
- Muscle strain or twitches
- Stomach upset
