Panic Attack in Sleep – Causes and Symptoms
Did you know that panic attacks can be induced by your sleep habits? This is correct, the condition could occur at any point in time, either during the day or at night. It could also happen when you are at home or in a public place. Panic attacks occur mostly during the night, and this is due to a sudden change in your sleep patterns.
In recent years, researchers have found many things that could cause these attacks. Stress, anxiety, insomnia, a malfunctioning hormone secretion from the pituitary gland, blood sugar levels, sleep deprivation, hormonal imbalances, and other factors have been found to be responsible for the phenomenon. Some people experience panic attacks during their sleep; while others do not have the disorder. You can experience the attacks when you are sleeping at home, or in the office. It could happen at any time of the day.
These attacks are usually caused by your thoughts. You could be disturbed by noises and other distractions while you are asleep. You could also experience the attacks while you are undergoing routine body postures such as sitting, lying down or even climbing the stairs. There are also cases wherein people experience panic attacks while they are watching television. These attacks are not always life-threatening. However, if they continue to grow, then they can lead to more serious symptoms like anxiety attacks and even other panic attacks.
